'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' Review: Varun Dhawan Delivers Laughs in David's Fun-Filled Rom-Com (X)

Mumbai: David Dhawan's films have a specific template, a specific style, and a unique level of entertainment. The much awaited film 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai', starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, has released in theatres on Friday. The David Dhawan's directorial has beautifully used AI, in which two little cute and small children can be seen talking to each other and asking questions regarding mother and father.

What is the story about?

The story revolves around Jass and Bani, Varun and Mrunal, who are married. Jass wants a child, and Bani wants a divorce. Their case goes to court, and they get separated, but the divorce doesn't happen yet. Then Jass meets Preet, played by Pooja Hegde, whose brother, Jimmy Shergill, is a Dabangg. A series of events leads to both Bani and Preet becoming pregnant.

How is the film?

This film is typical of David Dhawan's films: fun, emotions, enjoyable experience. It features good comedy, beautiful London locations, well-dressed actors, and good music. The film is approximately two hours and 10 minutes long, so it doesn't drag. Such films have always had a dedicated audience, seeking a good time.

The teaser was quite poor, but the trailer showed David Dhawan's intentions. The story builds in the first half, and the confusing scenes between Jass's two wives in the second half are truly enjoyable. The second half could have been shortened, making the film more tedious. The supporting cast has made the film quite entertaining.

What about acting?

Varun Dhawan's comic punches are fun, he also looks quite handsome and fit. Mrunal Thakur's work is okay, Pooja Hegde has done a good job. Manish Paul is entertaining. Jimmy Shergill is good. Rajesh Kumar's work with him is good, Rakesh Bedi is fun. Mouni Roy's character is shocking and interesting. Chunky Pandey is good. Ayesha Raza Mishra is good. All the other actors also do their work well. Many characters are over the top, but their characters are fun anyway.

What about other actors?

The film, which marks Varun's fourth collaboration with his father, David Dhawan, and stars Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles, along with Mouni Roy, Rohit Saraf, Jimmy Shergill, Chunky Panday, Maniesh Paul, Rajesh Kumar and Kubbra Sait in key roles.
